The first Hive & learn eXact Joint User Group - examining “Opening Repositories, Unleashing Content” - will be held in Giunti Labs’ headquarters in Sestri Levante, North West Italy, from 21st to 22nd October 2008.

This is an ideal location in which to hold an immersive, guided investigation into how the recent linking - under the Giunti Labs brand - of the world’s leading digital content repository and marketplace technology, Harvestroad Hive™, with the leading learning content management system, learn eXact™, is now empowering educational and training communities via a fully fledged, open service orientated solution adding rich media, mobile and virtual learning content production, management and rendering toolkits to provide fully open and interoperable digital repository services.

The first two days (Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd, from 9.00 to 18.00) will give an introduction to market trends and discuss the most important business needs as well as how they are being addressed using Giunti Labs’ solutions. They offer a number of dedicated workshops on both Harvestroad Hive and learn eXact functionalities, as well as introduce product and module roadmaps and release plans. These will include the first preview of the new learn eXact and Hive SOA services, as well as the first modular integration of Giunti Labs’ flagship and the award winning eXact Packager and eXact Mobile solutions for the Hive Digital Repository infrastructure.

The “Opening Repositories, Unleashing Content ” User Group will demonstrate and showcase how Hive DR and learn eXact LCMS users can produce - from an existing learning infrastructure - advanced multi-device, multi-channel and multi-platform authoring, management and delivery in one click.

On Thursday 23rd (from 9.00 to 18.00) the User Group will have free access to a seminar co-organised by the European Learning Industry Group (ELIG) on the theme of: “A Generational Opportunity for Publishing: Building Open Digital Marketplaces for Education”. At this seminar, publishing and open courseware stakeholders will present, discuss and brainstorm the future of the educational content publishing business, along with technological models and architectures.
